2 big on-line music stores said to be discussing merger
Article Abstract:
Observers state that Internet retailers N2K and CD Now are preparing to merge. These observers, who are people close to the transaction, also stated that the deal will be a merger of equals. A combination of the two online retailers would result in a single company holding about 45% of the market. Advisers to the transaction do not believe that the deal will encounter any anti-trust obstacles because on-line music sales still represent a small portion of the market.
