Murdoch's bid for U.K. team kicks up a fuss

British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC (BSkyB) is preparing to launch a $960.5 million bid for Britain's Manchester United soccer team. Manchester United is the world's most profitable soccer team. BSkyB, a London based satellite television company, is 40% owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. The deal would tighten Murdoch's grip on British sports broadcasting and give him one of Europe's top sports brands. Murdoch is accused of using News Corp.'s media power to lock out competition. Politicians and fans have vowed to block the deal to buy Britain's most sacrosanct team.
