NBA approves pact, ends lockout

Professional basketball players and the National Basketball Assn reached a six-year, $5 billion labor agreement and ended a lockout that could have stalled the opening of basketball season on Nov 3, 1995. Approval of the players came after a motion to decertify their union was defeated.

U.N. operation in Somalia ends; U.S. aids withdrawal of peace-keepers
Article Abstract:
On Mar 3, 1995, the last of the United Nations peacekeepers left Somalia, while international aid agencies remained to try and restore a functional government. The troops first entered Somalia in Dec 1992, to distribute food to a starving population. Clan disputes continue.
