Affirmative action end in Georgia asked

GA Atty Gen Michael Bowers wrote to Georgia State University Chancellor Stephen Portch requesting that race-based admissions no longer be used in the state's college system, citing a 1995 Supreme court decision as the basis for his opinion. Portch replied that he wanted to continue affirmative action.

A federal appeals court rejected the contention by the University of Texas School of Law (Austin, TX) that it needed to admit minority students with lower test scores over white students with higher test scores to achieve racial diversity. The ruling could change admissions policies decisions.

FCC affirmative action limited

The Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled Feb 19, 1992, that FCC affirmative action policy giving women preference when granting broadcast licences was unconstitutional. The ruling was written by now Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
