Net at Computer Associates rose 25% in 2nd period
Article Abstract:
Net income increased 25 percent for Computer Associates International Inc's second fiscal quarter, slightly higher than analysts' predictions. Earnings were reported at $47 million, or 28 cents per share, having risen from $37.7 million, or 21 cents per share, during the 2nd qtr of the previous fiscal year. The company reported revenue at $431.9 million, up 30 percent from the $332.8 million reported in the 2nd qtr of the previous year. Analysts estimated that the company's revenue rose 15 percent after adjusting for the effects of two major acquisitions and good currency translations. Computer Associates is expected to generate even further income from its Unix products, developed in association with HP, and from a software contract with Citicorp. The company expects to introduce a new pricing plan in Nov, 1992.

Computer Associates is comfortable with analysts' estimates for quarter
Article Abstract:
Computer Associates International Inc states that it is comfortable with analysts estimates of its earnings for its 3rd qtr ending Dec 31, 1990. The estimates vary widely, from 14 cents a share to 43 cents a share. The software publisher indicates that a median between the estimates - about 33 cents - is probably most accurate. Earnings estimates for the 3rd qtr ending Dec 31, 1990, range from $25.9 million to $79.6 million, and the median is $61.1 million. Computer Associates reported net income $70.5 million, or 38 cents a share, in the same period in 1989. The company indicates that revenue problems experienced in the 1st qtr are 'pretty much gone by now.'
