Northwest strike hits business travelers
Article Abstract:
Northwest Airlines' two-day old pilots strike will have a greater impact as workers in its dominant market go back to work with little travel alternatives. The pilots strike, which began during the week of August 23-30, 1998, has shown little chance for a fast resolution. Since the strike began on August 29, 1998, neither side had engaged in negotiations with each other. Federal mediator Maggie Jackson stated that she did not plan to ask President Clinton to intervene in the strike.
