Article Abstract:
Decisions made by the Australian regulators in the infrastructure sector are based on assumptions about information that does not exist, resulting in substantial hidden costs to the society that will mount over time. The solution to this problem lies in moving towards a more light-handed approach to access regulation, and changing the existing policy framework so that it provides more guidance to regulators.

It is time to make health insurance well again

The governmentEs proposal of making changes to Medicare will force people to make gap payments for visits to general practitioners. The government proposal smooth out the difference between funds in terms of price and quality performance, limit the flexibility of health funds, prevents high-risk people and allow most households to make the use of private health insurance if they want.
