Only one buyer for Burns Philip's spices

Burns Philip's A$700 million writeoff for its spice business was shocking to the financial community at large and to Burns Philip investors in particular. The writeoff was expected to be less than A$500 million. The assets are now valued at A$150 million, and there are rumor of a takeover bid for A$240 million which leads analysts to ponder where the company derived the A$150 million valuation in the first place.
