Open Systems: traversing the accounting software field
Article Abstract:
Open Systems CEO Michael Bertini is a firm believer in Microsoft products. This is the reason why he is developing accounting software solutions based on Microsoft's technology. Although Bertini admits that the technology link with Microsoft is a driving factor in Open Systems' growth, he cites product excellence and the company's harmonious relationship with resellers as the main reasons for its success. Open Systems is intent on staying in the middle market for its accounting software and client/server packages. Bertini is optimistic about the company's chances in the US, Mexico, Asia, South America and Hong Kong even as he declined to make an overall assessment of the market for financial and accounting software or even make predictions. He also wants Open Systems to grow without creating a lot of noise in the industry.

Hyperion: software titan
Article Abstract:
Hyperion Software CEO James A. Perakis believes that his company leads the market in providing a complete set of financial software to many businesses. He explains that Hyperion Enterprises boasts of the dominant financial reporting and consolidation software products in the market. On the other hand, Hyperion Financials is slowly venturing into client/server accounting. Perakis believes Hyperion will eventually capture this market as well. Its acquisition of Pillar is also being expected to lead Hyperion into budgeting and planning capability. Because Hyperion's strength lies in its years of experience in financial-problem solution for large companies, Perakis intends to focus on best-of-class financial solutions to further distinguish the company from the competition.
