Organizing for technological collaborations: a managerial perspective
Article Abstract:
The success of technological collaborations between research and development professionals depends largely on the organizational form. Three factors influenced the selection of partners including the aim of the collaboration, the content of the partnerships and the type of partners involved. Moreover, steps such as the identification of the requirements for partnerships, the responsibilities of the partners and the selection of the ideal organizational mode are also important.

The externalisation of R&D activities and the growing market of product development services
Article Abstract:
Results of an empirical study are presented on the location, size, and services of approximately 200 companies that provide research and development contract work. Implications for the product development services market and the organization and management of firms which operate in that market are examined.

Systemic absorptive capacity: creating early-to-market returns through R&D alliances

The authors identify systemic absorptive capacity as an explanation of performance differences between product development systems that are competing with similar products for early-to-market returns via cost advantages, quality advantages, and speed to market acceleration.
