Patterns of control within Japanese manufacturing plants in China: doubts about Japanization in Asia
Article Abstract:
This article examines management practices in Japanese multinational manufacturing enterprises located in China. Interviews with Chinese managers of Japanese industrial plants reveal that Japanese multinationals maintain a high degree of control over production processes but relinquish control to Chinese regional managers in areas such as personnel management.
