Pepsico studies possible conversion of bottling operations
Article Abstract:
Pepsico, which recently announced its acquisition of Seagram Co.'s Tropicana juice business for $3.3 billion, is considering the possible conversion of some of its bottling operations in an attempt to compete more effectively with rival Coca-Cola Company. Pepsico, which currently has a number of fragmented bottling operations that handle about 57% of Pepsico's domestically-sold soft-drink volume throughout the country, may create a separate national bottling operation similar to that of Coca-Cola.
