Power utilities go to the wire against big carriers

Power utilities have an opportunity to enter the telecommunications market due to new technology that allows data and voice transmission over power lines. Utilities can easily make the transition because of their established infrastructure and client base. Telecommunication firms are also seeking utilities partnerships as that industry becomes deregulated.
