Issues concerning those Mexican Pres Vicente Fox has appointed to joint his cabinet are examined, focusing on the managerial style of the appointees and brief profiles of those appointees who will most affect industrial and foreign investment sectors. Appointees include Francisco Gil-Diaz, Ministry of Finance and Public Credit; Jorge Castaneda, Minstry of Foreign Affairs; and Ernesto Martens, Ministry of Energy.

Energy commission studies natural gas legislation

Issues concerning laws governing the Mexican natural gas, petroleum, and electricity industries are examined. Topics include a study begun by Mexico's Energy Regulatory Commission on reform of the natural gas industry; plans for a petrochemical industry reform bill to be presented to Congress on Dec 1, 2000; and a bill regarding the structural form of the electric utilities industry.
