Prospectus confirms troubles at Optus
Article Abstract:
Cable & Wireless Optus reported gross earnings of $2.9 billion for the 1997-1998 period, compared to $424 million the previous year, an increase of 88.3%. Executives predict 15.6% revenue growth for 1998-1999, with profits of $65 million, compared to a 1997-1998 loss of $94.5 million. The company, which has issued a prospectus for a float in Nov 1998, may meet problems including competition in the mobile telephone industry.
