Ten Canadian premiers met in St John's, Newfoundland from Aug 24-25, 1995. Discussion focused on the proposed cuts in health, welfare and other social services. Quebec Premier Jacques Parizeau created a controversy with his remarks about trade regulations if Quebec becomes independent.
