Re-imagining relevance: a response to Starkey and Madan
Article Abstract:
It is important to take account of the complex nature of knowledge production when considering whether business schools are facing a growing relevance gap. It is argued that business schools could benefit from redefining relevance so that they see themselves at the core operating with all the complex elements of knowledge.

Bridging the relevance gap: aligning stakeholders in the future of management research
Article Abstract:
Issues concerning the relevance gap in management research are discussed. Seven key areas of possible change are identified. These include forming problem/topic ongoing research forums and networks, establishing new measures of academic impact and setting up cross-disciplinary journals.

New forms of engagement are required in management research in order to establish a more contextualist and dynamic type of knowledge. There must be a focus on the distinctiveness of management research and on ways of linking with the world of practice.
