Restructuring brings quality improvements to Auburn University
Article Abstract:
The student affairs division at Auburn University, AL, deployed quality management processes to increase efficiencies. These processes resulted in a one-third reduction of full-time positions, privatization of student health services and consolidation of services and programs. The total restructuring eliminated a substantial deficit for the university and provided groundwork for future changes.

The price of quality: a critical discussion of the Public Sector Quality Award
Article Abstract:
The Public Sector Quality Award has had a negative impact on quality management implementation in Danish institutions. Organizations are reluctant to participate, as the competition evaluations are based on one-dimensional numbers and an inflexible paradigm. Individual situations and experiences that may provide new quality management methods are therefore excluded.
