Revamped PepsiCo still needs to conquer Wall Street
Article Abstract:
After undergoing a significant restructuring in the last couple of years, from dropping its fast-food chains and focusing on its snack-food operations to new plans for a major public offering for its bottling operations, PepsiCo Inc. still must convince Wall Street investors that the new Pepsico can compete with Coca-Cola. While the new PepsiCo is half the size it used to be with much higher profits and revenues, investors wonder if it can match Coca-Cola's strategy of creating and marketing brands and leaving its distribution to its bottlers, and its focus on investing in more vending machines, all tactics which have greatly helped the major competitor of PepsiCo. Particularly, investors are watching PepsiCo's ability to compete with Coke overseas, where it outsells Pepsi 3-to-1.
