Rightists storm charter talks
Article Abstract:
White separatists, who belong to the Conservative Party and the Afrikaner People's Front, demonstrated at a meeting of South African leaders who were drafting a new federal charter. The demonstrations turned violent when members of the Afrikaner Resistance Movement joined the groups.

South African government agrees to share power with blacks on multiparty council
Article Abstract:
The South African National Party reached an agreement with a multiparty council to share some power. The National Party would not share power over key government functions such as security. The African National Congress supported the new council.
