A profile of Gold Coast City Council's mayor, Ron Clarke is presented. The increasing unpopularity of Clarke raises doubts about his completing the tenure. Ever since, his victory in March 2004 elections, this former Olympic runner has been facing problems with the community. The reasons for Clarke falling from grace are discussed.
