Russia, Belarus sign union pact

Belarus Pres Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian Pres Boris N Yeltsin signed an agreement on Apr 2, 1996, that calls for increased economic, trade and political cooperation between the two nations, including an eventual joint currency. Economic pacts with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were also signed.

Chemical treaty signing begins
Article Abstract:
Some 120 countries on Jan 13, 1993, began signing a treaty that would ban the manufacture, storing and use of chemical weapons. The treaty will be the first verifiable disarmament treaty to do away with an entire class of weapons. Iraq and several other Arab countries boycotted the signing.

Russia, France sign cooperation treaty
Article Abstract:
Russia and France entered into an agreement on Feb 7, 1992, to promote political, economic and military cooperation. The cooperation treaty also provides for yearly summit meetings between the countries' leaders.
