Beyond the numbers
Article Abstract:
The Business Assessment Model was developed to help management accountants and financial analysts relate their strategic financial decisions to the whole business. The model is graphically represented as a pyramid, which is divided into three segments. The base of the pyramid, which measures the ability of the company to generate revenues, consists of the core business, market and competition. The middle portion of the pyramid, which assesses the ability of the organization to create value for customers and stockholders, looks at the two elements of operations and performance. Finally, the peak of the pyramid, which examines the leadership quality of the company, is concerned with the management factor. By using this model, financial managers can expand their role to include strategic issues.
