Sausage chief deals for a billion-dollar future
Article Abstract:
When Sausage Software Ltd. director Wayne Bos announced on July 29, 1999, that Telstra Corp. had bought a controlling holding in his company, investors were baffled. With fully-exercised options, Telstra could take control of Sausage with a 40% holding. However, Sausage will remain independent. Initially, Telstra will take 10% of Sausage by purchasing 14 million shares at $1.35. Future options will be available from $1.10 to $1.35. The Sausage investment allows Telstra to become a hub for web portals. Bos says he will continue Sausage's expansion.

Article Abstract:
Telstra Corporation Ltd. has registered 158,000 investors for its T2 stock float prospectus through its World Wide Web site. Online stockmarket floats are still rare and no decision has been made if investors will be able to pay for T2 scrip over the Internet. Telstra's offer is expected to close in mid-October 1999, and its popularity will depend on Telstra's ability to market itself as a diversified communications company.
