Seven tosses in sea of speculation
Article Abstract:
Seven Network, the television network, and PMP Communications, a periodicals publisher, may be planning a cross-shareholding or full merger to stave off rival investors. Potential investors may include Kerry Packer's Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd. and Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. A Seven-PMP merger would be a one-for-two swap. Seven is capitalized at $1.5 billion and PMP at $800 million. A merger would allow the two companies to cross-promote TV programs and magazines, as well as improve Seven's dividend yield. On June 11, 1999, Seven will complete its 20% share buyback.
