Smart politics, shocking policy
Article Abstract:
Australian government has surplus money on its hand, thanks to the price gains on iron and coal, which saw an unprecedented hike because of demand from China. However, this position will not be forever. There is an expectation that the windfall will be passed on to taxpayers by way of tax cuts. However, it would be wiser to keep in mind that the aging population of the country will soon require further funds. The stand that politicians will take in this situation is a foregone conclusion.
