NBA player benched for anthem protest

The NBA issued a non-paid suspension against Denver Nuggets guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf on Mar 12, 1996, after Abdul-Rauf refused to stand during the national anthem. The suspension was lifted on Mar 14, 1996, after Abdul-Rauf agreed to stand and pray during the anthem.

Orlando trades first pick in NBA draft

The Orlando Magic basketball club selected Webber as their first choice in the 1993 NBA draft selection process, but they later traded him for guard Anfernee Hardaway. Fifty-four players were traded in the two rounds of draft selections. Other trades are detailed.
