Southern Living gets northern publisher

Southern Living magazine's new publisher, Rich Smyth, will be based in New York City, where he has been Southern Living's vice president and advertising director. He is replacing Kevin Lynch, who becomes senior vice president at Sunset Publishing. Southern Living's ad pages and ad revenues have soared, and the magazine offers advertisers a circulation of 2.5 million readers. The magazine's profit margins are the highest of any monthly magazine owned by Time Inc.

Home-oriented magazine firm dresses up bid for upscale ads
