Staff productivity chases US levels
Article Abstract:
Three Australian Big Five accounting firms have reported an increase in productivity close to levels in the United States. Deloitte Australia has an average of 1400 chargeable hours, equating to 40 weeks at 37.5 hours. The firm also inducted 52 new partners in July. PricewaterhouseCoopers' productivity is also about 1400 chargeable hours. Ernst and Young's 1350 hours for lower-level staff are likely at a peak and may fall to about 1200 by 2001.
