Strategy: an introduction
Article Abstract:
Strategy is not a technique or a specific plan but a mindframe needed to assess a business as an organization existing in a certain economy and that must carefully identify where it wants to go. Formulating a strategy is the first step in a long process that culminates with the implementation of objectives. Strategic thinking is crucial for business in a world of changing technologies. Strategic planning must take into consideration business objectives, the need for a corporate identity, option's available, the current scope of the firm, the strength and weaknesses of the company, and above all the possible threats to survival.

Marketing strategy in corporate context
Article Abstract:
A marketing approach to general management has been considered to be a winning strategy in today's business. It is wrong, however, to put marketing as the center of attention and the ultimate goal of a firm. Marketing is just one function of strategic management, a step in a process and not the main organizing principle of a company. A consumer orientation is favored by those who think that marketing strategy is crucial for a firm's growth where as others believe that the overall planning process is the right way to corporate success. They argue that planning must encompass all functions where each one is an important.

Managerial activity theory and the education of general managers
Article Abstract:
Only during the last 15 years has the field of general management has become aware of what managers really do. Managerial education at business schools does not teach how to manage and some researchers doubt if that is possible. Management means the display of effective attitude, informational skills, and the use of networks. A program of education for general managers should emphasize self-development, resource allocation, interpersonal skills, the development of unprogrammed decision making skills, and the ability to debate, discuss, and handle a wide range of issues.
