Stretchwork: Managing the career progression paradox in external labor markets
Article Abstract:
The way in which contract workers try to achieve career progression without the benefit of organizational guidance is examined. Four tactics used to acquire stretchwork are identified, the conditions affecting those tactics are explored and implications for further understanding of career progression in labor markets that are external are offered.

Network strategies and performance of Canadian investment banks
Article Abstract:
The implications that a firm's specialization has for the performance, the firm achieves by spanning structural holes between its partners are studied. An analysis suggests that the ability of firms to benefit from their positions within open networks is dependent upon the firms' levels of specialization.

The emergence of governance in an open source community
Article Abstract:
A study examined the method of self-governance among small communities producing collective goods, focusing on an open source software community. Results revealed that a combination of bureaucratic and democratic practices facilitated its governance system.
