Strict vs. weak ordinal relations for multipliers in data envelopment analysis
Article Abstract:
The standard data envelopment analysis (DEA) model can handle the case of strict ordinal relations, but weak ordinal relations must use a nonstandard model of DEA. Research by B. Golany (1988) investigated weak ordinal relations only for the ratio model developed by A. Charnes, W.W. Cooper, and E. Rhodes in 1978, 1979, and 1981. However, Golany's proposed equivalence was incorrect. A correct model equivalence is presented. The use of ordinal relations holds for all of the models of DEA except the cone ratio model.

A generalized network formulation of the pairwise comparison consensus ranking model
Article Abstract:
The Kemeny and Snell reference model is used to represent ordinal preferences. The model has the ability to handle pairwise comparison data when the l1 norm is used to rate voter disagreement. Though the model offers most of the required properties for the social selection function, the presently developed solution procedures can only be used with small problems because of the difficulty in modeling the transitivity requirements of the optimal consensus ranking.

Scheduling with multiple performance measures: the one-machine case
Article Abstract:
A single performance measure is optimized by the majority of scheduling research. The article presents techniques for scheduling jobs on one machine if the demand for the schedule is evaluated according to at least two performance measures. Trade-off curves for certain performance measures can be built according to the techniques listed.
