Strides Made to Market FirstStep
Article Abstract:
NCR Office Systems Division has implemented an independent dealer distribution program for its FirstStep microcomputer. Under the program NCR representatives will sign up independent master dealers, who will in turn sign up sub-dealers. The emphasis will be on outside sales rather than retailing. NCR is also planning on marketing in-house developed software for the First Step, the first of which is a legal time-and-billing package designed for one to five-person law firms.

Easy, Convenient and Cost-Effective
Article Abstract:
The 112-year-old Philadelphia-based law firm of Dechert, Price and Rhoads uses the Teltone communications system to connect terminals to an NCR V8560 mainframe. Working on the Bell Centrex system, Teltone allows data and voice communications at 9600 Baud. Because the system makes use of the regular telephone lines, no special wiring or cable is necessary.
