Supreme Court: banks' insurance sales upheld
Article Abstract:
The Supreme Court ruled in Barnett Bank v. Nelson that federal laws that allow banks in small towns to sell insurance supercede state laws that bar such action. The ruling overturns laws in 15 states that do not allow banks to sell insurance. The ruling could also change other state bank laws.

Census: bureau to use sampling in 2000 count
Article Abstract:
The US Census Bureau announced on Feb 28, 1996, that it plans to use sampling techniques in the 2000 census, as a means to save money and provide a more accurate count. Sampling will reduce the costs from an estimated $4.8 billion to $3.9 billion.
