Survival beyond succession? The contingent impact of founder succession on organizational failure
Article Abstract:
With reference to managerial and founder succession, the three factors; the ideological zeal of an organization's founder, the managerial roles played by founders, and organizational affiliations are focused. The analysis shows that ideology is a strong moderator of the relationship between founder succession and organizational failure, and that ideology conditions the impact of managerial roles and organizational affiliations on failure following founder succession.

The "living dead" phenomenon in venture capital investments
Article Abstract:
'Living dead' investments are venture capital investments that are neither earning their expected return on investment nor experiencing significant losses. The portfolio results of 80 venture capital firms were analyzed. It was reported that about 55% were 'winners,' 20% were 'living dead' and another 20% were 'losers.' The attributes of 'living dead' investments and the management of these investments by venture capital firms are discussed.

On the survival prospects of men's and women's new business ventures
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the success of men and women entrepreneurs. Women were found to use less capital to start their businesses and the success of a business was found to relate directly to the amount of start-up capital employed.
