Sweet Sucess
Article Abstract:
Mrs. Field's Cookies' data processing department uses IBM's System-38, a System-34, a Series-I, and numerous IBM personal computers (PCs). The PCs are replacing the present Touch-Tone Order Entry System (AT&T) for reporting daily sales, inventory, and labor information. The PCs will link each store's cash register to the System-38 by way of land lines and satellite, allowing business information to flow to headquarters hourly and automatically. IBM encryption software keeps information such as sales, food costs, labor costs, and scheduling of labor secret between the field and headquarters.

Sweet chaos, fat trip
Article Abstract:
An author describes the problems she encountered in trying to get the name of her book corrected on the Books in Print database. The problem magnified greatly as the wrong name of the book was replicated on different databases beyond her control. The book was accidentally titled 'Fat Trip' instead of 'Sweet Chaos,' and people thought it was about dieting, not musician Jerry Garcia.
