Taped aliens' beating sparks protests

Two white Riverside County, CA, deputies were captured on videotape beating two Mexican illegal aliens on Apr 1, 1996. The deputies had been pursuing a truck carrying the Mexicans for 80 miles. Hispanic and civil rights groups condemned the beating, and the aliens filed suit against the deputies.

Buffalo protests end peacefully

Operation Rescue held an antiabortion protest in Buffalo, NY, from April 20 to May 2, 1992. Little violence occurred and abortion clinics were not shut down. Some 597 people, primarily antiabortion protesters, were arrested.
