Telecommunications services industry
Article Abstract:
AT and T Corp. is splitting into three components, one of which, AT and T Capital Corp., will be sold. Legislation is pending in Congress that will affect the long-distance market and states are becoming more progressive in telephone regulation. Competitive Access Providers are also enlarging local market share at the expense of Regional Bell Companies. High yields and good earnings make these stocks attractive investments.

Telecommunications services industry
Article Abstract:
State-of-the-art technology, Internet and innovative marketing make the telecommunications industry an exciting and attractive area for investment. However, greater government regulation and the creation of new markets present the possibility that the industry will no longer be somewhat monopolistic. Whether cable television's entry into the telephone service market will be successful is still to be determined.
