The Australian Defence Force (ADF) and its Major-General Peter Dunn are attempting to bring corporate values and lessons to the national defense organization in order to make it more efficient. ADF has identified $1 billion in administrative cost cuts and has completed half of its 3800 job-cuts program. Many officers, in opposition to the changes, are voicing criticism or retiring. Lieutenant-colonels are quitting at the rate of more than 20% a year.

Article Abstract:
Succession planning is expected to be a major issue for Australian corporations during the early years of the new millenium. The fast changes of executives, an average of every 5.2 years, makes the lack of succession planning in Australian companies into an even greater issue.
