The Confusion of IS and OUGHT in Game Theoretic Contexts
Article Abstract:
The distinction between normative and positive theoretical statements in a game theoretic context is explored from a bayesian perspective. Normative and positive theoretical statements are often confused in decision making resesarch. The confusion results from some unique epistemological and methodological problems associated with cognitive behavior as an object for scientific inquiry. From a Bayesian perspective which acknowledges the importance of incomplete information and imperfect theories of behavior, the confusion is unnecessary.

A game-theoretic model of corporate takeovers by major stockholders
Article Abstract:
The exchange between decision power and cash among stockholders is modeled for a firm in which there are two major stockholders. The feasibility and profitability of corporate takeovers is investigated. The existence of pairs of Nash equilibrium strategies is shown to exist under certain conditions, allowing one major stockholder to assume company control. Threat-resistant strategies are solved for both major players, and a threat-resistant Nash equilibrium model solution is provided.
