Downsizing trend continues
Article Abstract:
Northrop Grumman Corp. of Los Angeles, CA, aims to slash annual operating expenditures by about $300 million starting in 2001. Cost-cutting measures will include realignment of operating units, consolidation of facilities and several management initiatives intended to strengthen the company's position. In the process, however, about 2,100 jobs will be eliminated on top of the about 8,400 jobs already planned to be eliminated through the end of the century.

The Influence of Temporal Distance on Consumer Preferences for Technology-Based Innovations
Article Abstract:
The results of a study on the effects on consumer preferences of the length of time elapsed between usage of a technology-based product and later use of the same improved product are analyzed. Topics discussed include customer's attitudes towards long-term product functionality, attitudes towards short-term interface ease of use, and implications for the development and improvement of software and Internet-based products.
