The Keisho of development technology: the case of the Japanese aircraft industry
Article Abstract:
The development of technology through inheritance, also called keisho, proved to be useful in the advancement of Japan's aircraft industry. The development of technology through the straight inheritance model of keisho entails the creation of successive high quality products through refinement and improvement of completed past projects. On the other hand, the intermediary inheritance model of keisho involves the acquisition of core development technology through several medium-scale intermediate projects.
