He had foresight and great daring, believing he could supply ordinary working people with high quality, low-priced apparel. He always had the welfare of his employees in mind.

He did not believe in waiting for a market. Create it and expand it. His success was built on a popular brand of soap. By the time of his death in 1925, he was a one-man concern without rival.
