The Wages of Fear
Article Abstract:
With people becoming more aware of the threats of terrorism, the businesses that cater to protecting others from those threats are growing. A company which started selling armoured cars (converted American sedans which cost $87,000) expect to see two million dollars in sales before the end of its first year. Doing similarly well are bodyguard services, and companies which sell a multitude of equipment for those who want to protect themselves. Even a company which once sold x-ray equipment almost exclusively to hospitals and those in the medical profession, has witnessed a surge of sales to companies so that packages can be inspected before they are opened.

Keeping Electronic Mail Private
Article Abstract:
One of the problems with electronic mail systems is that there is really no way to guarantee privacy or ensure that the message is accurate; these are comparable to the traditional seatled envelope and personal signature. But now two computer based devices developed by cryptography experts will be available on the market soon. The Public Key Cryptosystem (PKC) assigns a code to both senders and receivers, one of which is a public code, the other remains private. The other system, called the Key Notarization System, uses a pattern of traditional codes, and is now being tested by the army and the Department of Energy.
