The discipline of real cells
Article Abstract:
A theory is proposed to differential real manufacturing cells from other types of cells. The proposed model describes the discipline required for effective cell operation. In a real cell, job tasks and the workers are linked in terms of time, space and information. Among these linking mechanisms, information seems to be the most critical factor behind the effective operation of a cell. Moreover, the model stresses the importance of cell operators, emphasizing the theory's assertion that a cell is not just an assemblage of equipment.
