The effect of organizational context on entrepreneurial strategies in franchising
Article Abstract:
Franchisor characteristics, such as size, age and growth, may affect the franchisee's perception of the franchisor's entrepreneurial strategies and his support for the franchisee's entrepreneurial activity. Results show that the franchise system's size is associated with a conservative strategy. Franchise system's age and high-growth, on the other hand, is positively related to entrepreneurial strategy. The franchisor's entrepreneurial strategies and his support for franchisee innovation provides a partnership useful for a competitive advantage.

NAFTA and franchising: a comparison of franchisor perceptions of characteristics associated with franchisee success and failure in Canada. Mexico and the United States
Article Abstract:
The development and growth of franchising companies included in the North American Free Trade Agreement vary by location. These differences may be explained by the fact that high-ranking executives in different countries have distinct perceptions of franchising characteristics. Despite these discrepancies, it is safe to conclude that franchising is instrumental in fostering improvement among retailers. It was further shown that perceptions for business failure and success is significantly motivated by franchising strategy factors.

Influence of franchisee selection criteria on outcomes desired by the franchisor
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the value of several franchisee selection criteria such as experience, management skills, financial capability, demographics and business attitude to the performance of the franchise has been conducted. The results indicated that traditional methods of franchisee selection such as financial capability are not satisfactory indicators of successful franchises. The study highlights the importance of business attitude and prior experience to choosing an excellent franchisee.
