Home Depot tests expanded home services
Article Abstract:
The do-it-yourself remodeling supplies company, Home Depot Inc., has developed a new service for customers in which installation of roofing, vinyl siding and vinyl-replacement windows is offered for Home Depot customers who would prefer to have someone else do the work. The new service is being experimented with 100 of the company's 676 stores. The company believes that there is a very large segment of the customer base that not only wants to purchase their own products from Home Depot, but also wants these installation services. Home Depot is contracting out with smaller installation firms who get to advertize their services under the Home Depot banner while Home Depot gets a percentage of the installation profits as well as a venue to sell its products.
