The ethics of charismatic leadership: submission or liberation?
Article Abstract:
Charismatic leaders are either ethical or unethical in their approaches to leadership. Ethical charismatics consider the aspirations and develop the leadership potential of their followers. On the other hand, unethical charismatics are self-centered in their vision and manipulate their followers. While the moral standards of ethical charismatics emphasize collective interests, those of unethical charismatics promote self-interests. Ethical charismatic leadership is the better approach because it produces leaders out of followers.

A funny thing happened on the way to the bottom line: humor as a moderator of leadership style effects
Article Abstract:
Humor seems to affect leadership style with respect to individual and group-level performance. This is evident in a study involving a large Canadian financial institution which was organized into four strategic departments. It was found that the use of humor has a positive, direct influence on leadership style, indicating its effectiveness as a managerial approach. The moderating effects of humor also suggest that its relationship with leadership style and performance is more complex than previously thought.

Effects of leadership style and followers' cultural orientation on performance in group and individual task conditions
Article Abstract:
Transformational and transactional leadership does not necessarily affect followers with different cultural orientations. This is evident in a study which compared transformational and transactional leadership styles in group and individual task conditions. Collectivists under a transformational leader tend to generate more ideas than individualists, although less than what the latter generate under a transactional leader. In addition, groups perform better than individuals working alone.
