The financial impact of boycotts and threats of boycott
Article Abstract:
Event study methodology measures the impact of boycotts and threats of boycott over firms' ability to conduct business. The method uses cumulative abnormal returns to determine parameters of impact and linear regression to determine impact on market returns. Results reveal no serious financial loss to subject firms while public pronouncement results in wealth gains instead and positive reactions in the stock market.
