The influence of acquisition experience and performance on acquisition behavior: Evidence from the U.S. commercial banking industry
Article Abstract:
Theories of organizational learning are used to examine acquisition likelihood in a sample of banking industry acquisitions from 1988 through 2001. Although research on organizational learning suggest that routines arising both from experience and from performance feedback guide organizational learning, the combined effect of these two sources of learning is rarely examined.

Explaining new CEO origin: firm versus industry antecedents
Article Abstract:
A study of 220 CEO successions in US manufacturing firms from 1993-99 found that the CEO would be chosen from within a firm if there was an heir apparent and several nonheir inside directors and the CEO would be chosen within an industry if there were similarities in size and business strategies.
